Categories

The Bush Artist Program provides grants in eight categories that alternate on a two-year cycle. We recognize that artists and their work often do not fit strict categories. It may be that none of the categories listed, or more than one, seems appropriate for your work. If so:

  • select the category that is most likely to include work similar to yours or
  • select the category that has panelists who will be knowledgeable about the field in which you work;
  • if you have questions, please call us.

The 2009 (odd year) fellowships will be awarded in the following five revised categories:

Literary Arts Deadline: TBA

For writers who work in all genres of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction and experimental forms. It does not include criticism, journalism, or writing for educational purposes. For additional eligibility requirements, please see category guidelines.

Performance-Based Work Deadline: TBA

For artists who create original work (perform, write and/or direct) for live performance including choreography, storytelling, spoken-word, puppetry, movement/physical performance, performance art, interdisciplinary and devised theatrical works.
