Dominque Serrand

Paris native Dominique Serrand (Minneapolis, MN) was artistic director and one of the co-founders of Theatre de la Jeune Lune. He studied at the National Circus School and the Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris. Serrand has acted, conceived, directed and designed for most Jeune Lune productions, concentrating primarily on directing. He has been a guest director on several stages including Berkeley Repertory Theatre, The La Jolla Playhouse, Yale Repertory Theatre, American Repertory Theatre, Actors Theater of Louisville, the Guthrie Theater and The Children’s Theatre. Among his many awards are the 2005 Tony Award to Jeune Lune for best regional theater, a 2005 USA Artist Fellowship, a 1999 Sally Ordway Irvine Award for Artistic Vision, an American Theatre Critics’ Association New Play Award and a Pulitzer Prize nomination for Children of Paradise: Shooting a Dream. Serrand has been knighted by the French Government in the order of Arts and Letters.
