Bush Leadership Fellows Program Announces New Online Information Sessions

Eligibility Requirements & Criteria

We welcome application from individuals who:

  • Are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  • Are 28 years or older at the application deadline date.
  • Have lived or worked for at least one continuous year immediately prior to the application deadline in Minnesota, North Dakota or South Dakota.
  • Are not former Bush Leadership Fellows.

Selection Criteria

At the time they applied, most Leadership fellows had at least five years experience in their career field, with strong evidence of competence and leadership abilities.

Selection committees review applicants’ records with attention to leadership, learning and impact. When reviewing applications they consider the applicant, the fellowship and the payoff using the following criteria:

  • Does the applicant have a record of leadership?
  • Does the applicant have the personal qualities of integrity, emotional maturity, intelligence and the ability to communicate and engage?
  • Are the fellowship goals ambitious, focused and realistic?
  • Is the fellowship plan appropriate, challenging and complete?
  • Will the payoff of the fellowship be the applicant realizing his/her leadership potential and having a positive community impact?
